Who is behind it

Engineer by training.

I studied computer science in Delhi, stayed on for a masters in it, and took a software job in Bangalore. Two years in, the hours I looked forward to were the ones I spent explaining something to somebody. I left and started teaching.

Since then I have taught Physics and Mathematics to JEE candidates in Delhi, headed a well known institute here in Dubai, and worked with about six thousand students and the families behind them. Every teacher I have met wants their students to do well. Hardly any of them have anything that tells them what a particular student needs. AI-abled is the instrument I spent ten years wishing somebody would build.

I write the code myself and I still teach every week. Every instrument on this site has been rewritten because a student found the place it was wrong.

I grew up in Delhi and stayed there through a BTech and an MTech in computer science. The plan was the ordinary one: finish the degrees, join a company, keep going. I did that part in Bangalore.

The job was fine. What kept nagging at me was that I enjoyed the hours spent explaining something far more than the hours spent building it, so I started teaching on the side and writing course material. That settled the question faster than I expected.

Back in Delhi I taught Physics and Mathematics to JEE candidates. Anyone who has taught that exam knows its strange arithmetic: a room of clever, exhausted teenagers competing against a million others, most of them with no clear idea whether the thing they are aiming at suits them at all.

Then came the offer to head a well known institute in Dubai, and that is the part that changed how I think. This city runs almost every curriculum there is, and over the years I taught across most of them: British, IB, CBSE, American, and the entrance exams stacked on top of each. Teaching that many systems is what taught me that a diagnosis has to be built for the system the student is actually in. Ready for the SAT and ready for JEE are not the same word, and neither describes a child halfway through the IB.

The same gap turned up wherever I taught. Teachers wanted their students to do well and had nothing that told them what a specific student needed. Families were choosing subjects, exams and countries on whatever information reached them, most of it from people with a stake in the answer. Both are measurement problems, and for most of my career the measurement was too slow and too expensive to hand to an ordinary family.

That is what changed. AI got good enough to read an essay, score a reasoning test and hold a hundred variables at once without a research budget behind it, and everything I had been carrying since my first classroom finally had somewhere to go. AI-abled is that tool. It measures first and advises second, and when a child is already on track it says so plainly: no formal training needed, keep doing what you are doing. That is good news a family can trust, because it comes from an instrument with nothing to sell.

What I want now is reach. I spent ten years working around a gap nobody had filled, and the next teacher, parent or student should not have to spend theirs the same way. The instruments are built, and they work. What is left is getting them to every student who could use them, whatever curriculum they study and wherever they live, so the answer that took me a decade to find is one honest sitting away for your child.

Ten years of teaching, thousands of families across the table, students of every nationality in the same room, and one gap kept showing up. Students pick up AI faster than any adult in the building and use it with no idea what it costs them to let it think on their behalf.

Meanwhile their parents make the most expensive and least reversible decisions of their lives on almost no independent information, from people who are paid by the outcome. Both halves are a measurement problem. So we build the measurement and we teach the judgement, for any and every student, not one narrow age and not one national curriculum.

There is no better place to understand the world’s students than the UAE, where families from every part of the planet live in one city and a single class can hold twenty nationalities. Every curriculum runs here side by side, and teaching across them for more than a decade is what taught us to build for every student rather than one country. It is why our products work globally instead of being written for one system and translated afterwards.

The rules we set ourselves

What we will not do.

We will not sell you coaching you do not need

When a student is already on track, every LENS report says so plainly: you do not need formal training or paid coaching, so keep doing what you are doing. A diagnostic that can only ever recommend more spending is not a diagnostic, it is a sales call with a chart on it.

We will not take a commission from any university

Not one, anywhere. SCOPE is paid for by the family and nobody else, so the shortlist follows the student’s grades rather than a referral agreement.

We will not tell you what to do, only what is true

The decision belongs to the family. Our job ends at giving them something accurate enough to decide with, including when the answer is uncomfortable.

We will not price for the maximum the market will bear

Prices are set so the maximum number of students can benefit. The binding constraint has never been price, it is reach.

The easy thing is to let the tool do the work, and every student finds that out in an afternoon. The valuable thing is harder: knowing what the tool is good at, keeping your own judgement in front of it, and building something with it that did not exist before. That is the whole ambition, and it is why we measure first.
